The perfect indentations on the piece are done on the clay when it is still humid, the it is left to dry and it is burnished to get the shines of the piece. The black is gotten with the oxigen reduction firing.

About the artist:

Following the family tradition on making black, burnished and incised pieces he learned from his father Reynaldo Quezada (brother of Juan Quezada, the master). So he has been doing pottery since he was very young for more tan 20 years.  They also burnish the pieces with graphite to get a beautiful metallic look.

 

Now he forms a team with his wife Rocio who has proven to be a very gifted artist too.
